AI CCTV / BUSINESS SAFETY & SECURITY

AI CCTV that helps your team
spot what needs attention.

For security, facilities and safety teams: use video analytics to identify defined events, flag them for review and support a timely response.

Start with your site’s risks and the cameras you already have. Discuss what you want to detect, who needs to know and what should happen next.

WHAT IS AI CCTV?

From recording footage to flagging relevant events.

AI CCTV uses software to analyse camera footage and identify selected objects or events, such as a person entering a defined area. Depending on the system, it can flag footage or trigger an alert for someone to review.

The value comes from a clear chain: a useful detection, an alert to the right person and an agreed response. A camera alert on its own does not make a site safer.

START WITH YOUR SITE

What could AI CCTV help you identify?

Choose the event you need to know about—not just a list of camera features.

01 / DETECTION SCENARIO

Restricted areas

A person enters a defined zone.

Discuss detection rules for areas such as service yards, entrances or restricted routes. An alert can prompt the responsible person to review the footage and follow your site procedure.

02 / DETECTION SCENARIO

After-hours activity

Activity is detected when the site should be quiet.

Set the areas, times and types of activity that matter. Agree who should receive alerts and what happens when your usual team is off duty.

03 / DETECTION SCENARIO

Vehicles staying too long

A vehicle remains in a defined area beyond a set time.

Where supported, time-in-area rules can help flag a vehicle for review. Your team checks the situation before deciding what action is appropriate.

These are scenarios to assess, not a promise that every camera supports them. Functions depend on the selected equipment, software and site conditions.

DETECTION IS THE START

Make every alert part of a response plan.

  1. Define the event

Choose the area, object type and time that matter. Check the camera view can support the task.

  2. Review the alert

Agree who receives it and how they check the footage. Test unwanted alerts as well as successful detections.

  3. Respond and review

Follow the agreed site procedure. Review outcomes and adjust the setup when conditions change.

KEEP WHAT WORKS

Could your existing CCTV do more?

You may not need to replace everything. Start with your camera models, recorder and video management software. Compatibility needs checking before an upgrade is promised.

  • Which cameras and recording equipment can be retained?
  • Are the view, lighting and image quality suitable?
  • Which software licences or hardware changes are needed?
  • Who will receive alerts and maintain the setup?

Be clear about the limits.

Weather, darkness, glare and obstructions can affect detection. A person or vehicle may be missed, and harmless activity may trigger an alert.

Test the chosen scenarios in your actual working conditions. Video analytics should support your people and safety measures, not replace them.

A PRACTICAL CONVERSATION

What to discuss with ACS.

Your site and concerns

Explain the event you want to identify, where it happens and how your team handles it today.

Your current equipment

Share camera and recorder models if you have them. Discuss the scope, compatibility checks and whether a site review is needed.

The next step

Clarify installation, training, monitoring and support requirements before agreeing a proposal. Ask what is included and what costs extra.

For a wider site review, explore access control, TPR site safety software or your sector.

BEFORE YOU CALL

Your AI CCTV questions, answered.

What is the difference between AI CCTV and motion detection?

Basic motion detection reacts to changes in the image. AI-based analytics can classify selected objects, such as people or vehicles, and apply rules to them. Available functions and accuracy depend on the system, its setup and the scene.

Can AI CCTV work with our existing cameras?

Possibly. Camera models, image quality, recording equipment, software and licences all affect compatibility. Start with the equipment you have and the events you want to identify. Some equipment may be reusable; other parts may need upgrading.

Can AI CCTV help with workplace safety?

It can help bring defined events to someone’s attention, such as a person entering a monitored restricted area. It supports review and response; it does not replace physical safeguards, risk assessments, trained supervision or established safety procedures. Specialist detection needs a suitable product and site testing.

Will AI CCTV eliminate false alarms?

No. Lighting, weather, obstructions, camera position and configuration can cause missed detections or unwanted alerts. Agree realistic test scenarios, check the results and tune the system before relying on its alerts.

Who responds to an AI CCTV alert?

That must be agreed as part of the design. It may be an on-site team or a separately arranged monitoring provider. Define the recipient, coverage hours and escalation steps. Automatic detection does not itself provide a staffed response.

How much does AI CCTV cost?

The cost depends on the number of cameras, equipment retained, software licences, storage, installation, monitoring and ongoing support. Discuss your priorities and existing system with ACS so the scope and costs can be assessed.

What about privacy and access to footage?

Start with a clear purpose for each camera and analytic. Consider the areas recorded, who can access footage, retention, signage and whether a privacy assessment is needed. Your organisation remains responsible for its data protection decisions.

What should I have ready for the call?

Tell us your type of site, the issue you want to address and whether you have CCTV already. Camera or recorder models are helpful if available, but you do not need a technical specification to start the conversation.
